Best Base Challenge! Day #1

Updated: Jun 2, 2020

Hey everyone! It's day one of my best base challenge. Over the next five days I will be sharing a 10 to 15-minute video, breaking down every step to getting your best ever base makeup.

In today’s video I began with washing my face aka skincare. A skincare routine can be a lot like a recipe, so I’m going to write an equipment list, ingredients, and a method for my skin care “recipe” that I followed in the video.

*Please note: My skin type is combination and prone to sensitivity, products that work for me and my skin may not suit and benefit you and your skin*

Equipment needed:

· Flannel or wash cloth

· Facial brush (optional)

· Cotton pads

Ingredients:

· Cleanser for your skin type - I use the Carbon Theory Tea Tree & Charcoal Cleansing bar.

· Toner for your skin type. - Today I used the L’Occitane Immortelle Precious Essential Water.

· Moisturizer for your skin type - I use The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid & B5.

· Eye cream - I used Rénergie multi-lift ultra full spectrum cream. (My mum got this as a tester and gave it to me, upon looking it up I saw that it isn't eye cream, so I'm not going to continue using it under my eyes)

Method:

Warm the flannel with hot water and press it gently against your face. This will make your skin damp and open your pores. Take your cleanser and usually it will have directions for use on it, my cleanser is in a bar so I just lather it up in my hands and then massage it all over my face and neck, making sure to go into the perimeters of the face, and between the brows and around the nose. Then if you are using a facial brush gently exfoliate in small circular motions around your face, taking care to avoid the delicate under eye skin.

Once you've gone all around your face, take the flannel and pat off the remaining cleanser, rinsing the flannel and patting again if needed. Make sure to rinse the brush too. Dry your face with a towel and then take a cotton pad and soak it with toner, applying all over your face in gentle sweeping motions. When you're done dispose of the cotton pad and allow our face to air dry, this will only take about 30 seconds depending on your toner. Next take your "treatments" or serums, mine is Hyaluronic Acid & B5. I apply three drops on my skin, on my forehead and on each cheek then massaging it into the skin. I let that sink in for a minute or two before applying my "lotion" moisturiser liberally all over my face and neck.
